Heads up; these garlicky parmesan green beans are a quick, flavorful side dish that pairs perfectly with every summer meal. As one of the most abundant garden veggies, green beans are a quick, and simple dish that are often overlooked. We love how they are steamed till tender and crisp, tossed with fresh garlic and savory parm. They’re an easy way to elevate simple green beans into a family favorite.

Growing Green Beans
Green beans are a summery, heat loving vegetable. They require warm soil for germination, ideally above 60F. They are planted 1 inch deep, and 2-4 inches apart. Since they are a legume, they help fix nitrogen into the soil, making the garden more nutrient dense while providing a harvest! After 45-65 days, your green beans will have transformed from seed to harvested bean.
Because they are a hearty summer veggie, it is often a good idea to succession plant throughout the spring. This will provide ample harvest during the entire summer months. Green beans will stop producing:
- In the presence of excess nitrogen
- During consistent temperatures over 85F
- With less than 5-7 hours of sunlight
- If overly crowded
- Due to pests, like caterpillars and roly-polies
